Important GAMEDAY info from UNC

Please note the following information regarding parking and pedestrian access to Kenan Stadium. Due to on-going construction on campus, there are a number of pedestrian routes that fans have taken in previous years that may be temporarily closed or diverted throughout this football season.

There are two primary changes to pedestrian access to the stadium -

1. Emergency Room Drive; and

2. the path between Fetzer and Woollen Gymnasiums near South Road and Stadium Drive.

Anyone who in past years walked up Emergency Room Drive to get to Gate 6 and other South Side gates now has three options to get to the stadium. This includes fans that park at the Cardinal, Craige, Dogwood and Jackson parking decks.

1. Cross Manning Drive in front of the water tower located across from Craige Parking Deck, walk up the newly-constructed set of stairs, then follow the signs to the stadium;

2. Cross Manning Drive at Hardin Drive (the entrance to UNC Public Safety office) and follow the signs to the stadium;

3. Cross Manning Drive at Hardin Drive, turn right (walk towards Ridge Road), then follow the sidewalk that cuts between Hardin/Morrison Dorms and the new Student Academic Services building (which is under construction on the site of former Chase Dining Hall). That sidewalk leads you across the Ramshead Deck three different ways - to the South Side gates, to the North Side gates and to Ticket Will Call.

If you park at the Smith Center, you should follow Ridge Road past the Ramshead Deck and follow the path between the deck and the Alumni Center; or turn left on Manning Drive, then follow the sidewalk that cuts between Hardin/Morrison Dorms and the new Student Academic Services building (which is under construction on the site of former Chase Dining Hall). That sidewalk leads you across the Ramshead Deck three different ways - to the South Side gates, to the North Side gates and to Ticket Will Call.

Many fans coming from the north side of campus and those who are dropped off on South Road by the shuttle buses are used to walking on a path between Fetzer and Woollen Gyms. That path led out to Stadium Drive across from Gate 2. The only change is the shortcut between the gyms is closed. Fans should access Stadium Drive by the Bell Tower and walk up to Gate 2. The shuttle buses will still be dropping off and picking up on South Road by the recreation center.

Public parking is available for $7 per vehicle at the General Administration Lot on Highway 54, the Cardinal and Jackson Parking Decks on East Drive (across from hospital), the Manning Lot on Bowles Drive, the N7 Nash Lot (space limited due to construction) and the N5 Park Place (off Boundary Street).

Chapel Hill Transit once again is running the Tar Heel Express, a bus service that originates at five different outlying locations and drops off/picks up on South Road by the student recreation center. The Tar Heel Express is an outstanding way to get to the game. It's only $5 round trip ($7 at General Administration). Two park-and-ride lots - those at the Friday Center on Highway 54 and University Mall (pickup near Dillard's) - begin three hours before kickoff, which conveniently is in time for Tar Heel Town. Three other lots - at Jones Ferry Road, Southern Village and General Administration - begin service 90 minutes before kickoff.

Disability parking is available for $7 at the Ambulatory Care Center, which is located just off Columbia Street. One caretaker is permitted to ride with each disabled passenger. The handi-vans and buses drop off at Tar Heel Town and Gates 2 and 6.

Tar Heel Town opens three hours prior to kickoff and the gates to Kenan Stadium open two hours before the game.
